Changes in airspace for 2025/26:
– Northern border shifted 1 degree northward from 21° S to 20° S.

Use of the airspace:
– The gliding airspace is valid during the gliding season from 1st October to 31th Januar.
– The sectors NE, N and NW are typically active during the gliding season (open for glider flying). They can be deactivate occasionally by ATC. The status will be announced in the daily briefing of your home airfield.
– The same applies to the restricted area around Karibib (FYM 401), which is normally deactivated and can be activated by NOTAM.
– It is self-explanatory that the usage of transponder is strictly mandatory in all TMZ areas (‘North TMZ’, ‘South TMZ’, ‘Windhoek TMZ’ and ‘Walfishbay TMZ’).
– Squawk for gliders: 7677 (be careful with the other 77nn codes).
– Usage of transponder is recommended in the airspace below the gliding sectors.
– If transponder is on, no communication with ATC is necessary while flying in the GLD sectors and below!
– Your home airfield frequency has to be monitored during the whole flight.
